To celebrate its global community of developers and partners, Shopify set out to create an event that reflected the creativity, craftsmanship, and ingenuity at the heart of its builder culture. Mantis was the design partner who helped shape and action the visual and spatial identity of the 150,000-square-foot experience, creating an environment that encouraged conversation, exploration, and connection while bringing Shopify's evolving craft-led design ethos into the physical world.
In close partnership with Shopify's world-class creative team, we developed a modular design system that balanced flexibility with bold visual impact. Inspired by the idea of connected thinking, we built a graphic language around intersecting dots and lines that became the foundation for the entire event identity.
From a scalable product booth system and monumental main stage to custom wayfinding, color-coded workshop spaces, and a retail experience for exclusive Shopify merchandise, every touchpoint was designed as part of one cohesive brand experience, proving that thoughtful design can scale without losing its sense of craft.
A Bold Welcome
Oversized logo blocks brought Shopify’s identity into three dimensions, creating an unmistakable first impression before guests even stepped inside.

The Ticker
A continuous LED ticker wrapped the entrance, turning schedules, announcements, and live programming into part of the architecture.

Built for the Builders
Sixteen custom product spaces brought Shopify’s latest tools to life, all built from a modular system designed to feel distinct while remaining unmistakably connected.

Setting the Tone
Six monumental columns transformed the transition into the event, introducing the graphic system and visual language guests would encounter throughout the experience.

Wayfinding
Across 150,000 square feet, a flexible system of color, typography, dots, and lines helped guests intuitively find their way while extending the event identity into every corner.

The Corridors
Each corridor in the 150,000 sq ft space needed to be cladded and designed. We created large stretched fabric walls that offered clear wayfinding to guests, and breakout spaces to allow for moments of respite from the busy convention.

The Main Stage
A monumental stage translated the event’s graphic system to its largest scale, creating a bold but flexible backdrop for Shopify’s global community of speakers and builders.

Liquid Lounge
A softer moment within the energy of the event, Liquid Lounge gave guests a place to grab a mug, recharge, and connect between sessions.

The Merch Market
We gave Shopify’s coveted merch a home of its own, creating a retail experience that brought the same sense of craft and personality into every detail.

Room to Build
Color-coded environments gave workshops and conversations their own distinct character, while keeping dozens of breakout spaces connected to the larger event identity.
